Crystal Landscape - The Sour Crystals - Citric Acid Crystals

Citric Acid crystals.
Citric Acid crystals. Magnification 100 Times.

Citric acid have a sour taste and it is an organic, natural
acid. Citric acid presents in citrus fruits like lemons and
limes.Citric acid is used as a preservative in foods.

About Citric acid
Citric acid is a white crystalline powder and it's  molecular
formula is C6H8O7 . It's Melting point is 156 °C (313 °F ).
Citric acid is produced in the industry using the mold
Aspergillus niger.
Citric acid is used as a flavoring and preservative agent in
food and beverages. Citric acid is used with sodium bicarbonate
as an  effervescent formula. It is used to remove limescale from
boilers and evaporators. It can be used to soften water, which
makes it useful in soaps and laundry detergents. In industry, it
is used to dissolve rust from steel. Citric acid prevents  the
sugar from crystallizing.

The Sweet Crystals - The Beautiful Sugar Crystals - Part-2

Many people like the sweetness of the sugar. I hope that they also like the beautiful shapes of the sugar crystals.

About Sugar
The common table sugar is called sucrose. The sucrose molecule consists of glucose and fructose. By hydrolysis it gives a mixture of glucose and fructose. The sucrose molecule consists of  12 carbon atoms, 22 hydrogen atoms and 11 oxygen atoms. The molecular is  C12H22O11.  If we rearrange the molecules it becomes just carbon and water.
The table auger is produced  mainly from sugar-cane or from sugar-beet. Sugar is used to manufacture  ethyl alcohol, citric acid, transparent soaps etc. The first production of sugar from sugar-cane took place in India. Brazil, India, European Union,China, Thailand, and United States were the major sugar-producing countries in the world
Sucrose melt and decomposes at 186 °C (367 °F).   It have a mono clinic crystal structure.

Note: I will publish in another post of the dry sugar crystals.

About Salt (Sodium Chloride)

Molecular formula of sodium is NaCl.(Sodium and
chlorine). It's melting point is  801 °C (1474 °F). It have a
Cubic Crystal structure. Salt is  produced by evaporation
of seawater and  Mining of rock salt.
The top  producers are  China , United States , Germany,
India and Canada. Salt is used in oil and gas exploration, in
textiles and dyeing industry, in processing metals like aluminium,
copper, in water softening etc. Salt is used  for the production of
many chemicals.
