Plant trichomes
The hairs ( trichomes) interfere with the feeding of theplant by herbivores (feeds on grass and other plants). Theyreduce water evaporation from the plants, protect the plant from hot, dry conditions.
The hairs may be glandular, producing some kind of secretion, such as the essential oils.(like Mint).
The plant cell walls are made with 'cellulose' which is tough in nature. It gives the cell it's shape.
