Many people like the sweetness of the sugar. I hope that they also like the beautiful shapes of the sugar crystals.

About Sugar
The common table sugar is called sucrose. The sucrose molecule consists of glucose and fructose. By hydrolysis it gives a mixture of glucose and fructose. The sucrose molecule consists of 12 carbon atoms, 22 hydrogen atoms and 11 oxygen atoms. The molecular is C12H22O11. If we rearrange the molecules it becomes just carbon and water.
The table auger is produced mainly from sugar-cane or from sugar-beet. Sugar is used to manufacture ethyl alcohol, citric acid, transparent soaps etc. The first production of sugar from sugar-cane took place in India. Brazil, India, European Union,China, Thailand, and United States were the major sugar-producing countries in the world
Sucrose melt and decomposes at 186 °C (367 °F). It have a mono clinic crystal structure.
Note: I will publish in another post of the dry sugar crystals.

These are terrific! Beautiful how the crystals fan out. Also, in the last one I like the negative space between the structures.
ReplyDeleteThey are beautiful crystal shapes. It is amazing what you can see when you magnify them.
ReplyDeleteI no next to nothing about crystals and microscopic shapes. But could not stop myself from admiring shapes in these pictures. So very amazing.
ReplyDeleteGood god! I've never seen something like that before! Amazing!
ReplyDeleteOh, these are really cool looking! I grew a giant sugar crystal one time in middle school. My Dad helped me make a supersaturated solution of sugar, and we hung a string with sugar on the end down into the solution and after a few weeks it grew to about 1 inch large...it was a really magical thing to see!!!
